NEW YORK, June 15th 2017 — Silent Dog Pictures releases the first season of its digital comedy series, Adults. Co-created by Sundance alum, director Jef Taylor (After You Left, Coverage), producer Chris Casey (Fill Your Heart with French Fries), and actor Garrett Neergaard (The Path, The Laramie Project); all three episodes are available to watch now at adultstheseries.com
The show centers around two 40-year-old friends (Taylor & Neergaard), as they navigate the difficult terrain of adulthood in New York City.
"I wanted to make a series about what it's like to be entering your 40's, particularly in a youth-obsessed place like New York," said Taylor. "There are a ton of great series about younger people, but not many about people my age."
"It's like Girls for grown-ups," added Casey, "but with men."
"It was important for Adults to feel honest and real, so we pulled stories from our lives, cast a lot of our friends as our friends, and improvised all of the dialogue," said Taylor, who, along with Neergaard, leads a cast that includes Lucy DeVito, Jennifer Bowen, Chris Casey, Nicholas Webber and Megan Hill. "Working without scripts is definitely scary, but it added a feeling of immediacy to the show that would have been difficult to capture otherwise," added Taylor.
At the heart of the series is the friendship between real-life friends Taylor and Neergaard. "There's an underlying sweetness to their dynamic that is rarely portrayed in male friendships," said Casey, "I knew right away that their relationship would thrive in an episodic format."
"Ultimately, we wanted to make a show that moved beyond the simplistic, sketch comedy feel of most web series," said Taylor, "and I think we succeeded."
Season one of Adults is streaming for free at adultstheseries.com and season two is currently in development.
